Electronics Engineering Technologist (Saskatoon, SK)

Vecima is seeking an Electronics Engineering Technologist to participate in supporting the development of next-generation telecommunication and networking products. The successful candidate will join an industry-leading team of technology leaders with a passion for quality networks to maximize business value and will contribute to the development of next generation products used by some of the world’s largest Cable operators.

The Electronics Engineering Technologist will assist skilled R&D designers with the design and development of new products, testing, troubleshooting, prototype builds and transitioning new products to Manufacturing. They will work in the areas of high-speed digital circuit design, RF design, and optical system validation. Attention to detail, drive, initiative, productivity, teamwork, and quality work are necessary to be successful within Vecima’s R&D culture.
This position is located in our Saskatoon, SK office.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years electronics experience is preferred
• Basic knowledge of digital, RF, power supply circuits, and/or optical networks.

Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:

• Part evaluation and selection
• Verification and debugging of circuits
• Soldering
• Test equipment experience (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
• Schematic entry and PCB design/layout (Altium/PADS)
• Optical system validation and networking

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Test, troubleshoot, modify, and repair prototype PCBs and assemblies
• Generate test procedures and plans
• Compile and analyze test data and generate reports
• Assist with the assembly and tracking of prototype builds
• Soldering, hot air rework, microscope assessments
• Assist hardware designers with component research/selection/evaluation
• Schematic entry and PCB layouts
• Assist with the transition of new products from R&D to production
