Overview

Build practical, job-ready skills in a short amount of time with our Construction Mini-Trades courses. Designed for flexibility, these hands-on training options allow you to explore a range of in-demand trades within the construction industry.
 
Each course runs approximately 3 weeks and focuses on a specific skill area, including:
  • Drywall installation and finishing
  • Painting selection and application
  • Interior finishing
  • Exterior finishing
  • Concrete forming
     
Courses can be taken individually or in any combination, giving you the freedom to customize your training based on your interests, schedule, or career goals.
 
Whether you’re looking to enter the trades, upgrade your skills, or try out different specialties, this program offers a practical and accessible pathway into the construction field.

Admissions

Admission Requirements

English is the language of instruction at Assiniboine. All applicants educated outside of Canada or in a country not on the test exempt list are expected to meet the English language proficiency requirements.

Students can take any combination of the below courses.

Drywall (CPWW-0078) | 8 Credits or 105 Hours

In this course students learn how to select and apply interior finishes for walls and ceilings.

End Date: Friday, October 23, 2026

Painting (CPWW-0074) | 5.25 Credits or 70 Hours

In this course, students learn to select and applyinterior finishes for walls and ceilings.
 

Start Date: Monday, October 26, 2026
End Date: Thursday, November 5, 2026

Interior Finishing (CPWW-0073) | 8 Credits or 105 Hours

In this course, students learn to install interior finishes such as doors, mouldings, trim, and flooring.

End Date: Friday, October 23, 2026

Exterior Finishing (CPWW-0076) | 10.5 Credits or 140 Hours

Students participate in the application of various types of exterior wall cladding, cornice trim and roof coverings. The course also includes door and window selection, construction and installation as well as sound control and fundamental principles of solar energy.

End Date: Friday, May 7, 2027

Concrete Forming (CPWW-0071) | 10.5 Credits or 140 Hours

In this course, students study the characteristics of quality concrete, its mixture, placement, finishing and curing. Other course material includes forming for footings, walls, columns, beams, slabs and stairs.
