English for Occupational Skills & Employment Success
Overview
This free course combines English language training with practical workplace competencies for Manitoba Eligible Clients as defined by the funder, the Province of Manitoba. Many newcomers face barriers to securing jobs aligned with their qualifications due to gaps in occupational English, cultural fluency, and technology skills.
The course focuses on four core areas:
- Workplace Communication Strategies
- Digital Literacy Skills
- Canadian Intercultural Awareness
- Cultural Adaptation
Upcoming Intakes
This course is available online or in-person, eight hours per week for 12 weeks.
- September 8 to November 27, 2026
- January 5 to March 25, 2027

Admissions
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible for this free course, you must:
1. Belong to one of the following groups:
- Canadian Citizens who identify as newcomers, including naturalized citizens, Canadian-born citizens raised outside of Canada, and foreign-born children of a Canadian citizen
- Or a spouse/common-law partner or dependent children of the above
- Temporary Residents holding a valid Work Permit or Study Permit (permit must be valid for the length of the course)
- Refugee Claimants (only claimants with a valid work permit are eligible)
- Or a spouse/common-law partner or dependent children of the above
If you have a different status in Canada (e.g., permanent resident, protected persons including refugee), you can still complete the form below to indicate your interest; however, spaces in this course will be prioritized for the above groups as they are Manitoba Eligible Clients.
2. Have a minimum CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) 5 or greater
if you do not have a recent CLB score, Assiniboine College can refer you for testing.
3. Be aged 18 or older

Careers & Connections
The EOS program is designed for clients to develop or enhance core skills for the Canadian workplace while also building on the English language listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities of the client.

- On-campus classes: you may require the use of a computer at home with internet access.
