Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) and Assiniboine College are collaborating to expand access to driver training in Manitoba. The program will enhance road safety and support workforce development by providing affordable, accessible training in communities throughout the region. 

This comprehensive program, offered to those over 18 years of age, provides both theoretical and practical instruction, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenge of driving.

The Drivers Handbook contains general information about safe and legal driving practices for the roads in Manitoba.

For specific information on traffic laws and regulations, please search the Government of Manitoba’s website for The Highway Traffic Act or The Drivers and Vehicles Act and regulations.
 

Courses & Costs

16 hours in-class and 4 hours in-car training: $200 + GST.

Training Includes:
  • In-class theory
  • In-car driving lessons with equipped fleet vehicles
  • In-car road test prep
  • Parallel parking
  • Build driver's confidence

Locations

Permanent Location

Assiniboine has one permanent site in the province that offers MPI Drivers Education.

The following intakes are announced for 2024-25, with more being added:

  • Brandon (Date TBD)

Rural Rotating Sites

In addition to a regular offering in Brandon, Assiniboine will be offering in-community training known as rural rotating sites. There are currently no rural rotating training sites available, but locations will be announced soon.

Killarney | January 2025
  • January 6 to 29, 2025
  • Mondays and Wednesdays in-class from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Participants must attend four (4) hours of in-car training, and four (4) hours of in-car observation time-  to be scheduled individually between February 3, 2025 to March 15, 2025.
  • Must apply by December 2, 2024
