There are no admission requirements for this program.
English is the language of instruction at Assiniboine. All applicants educated outside of Canada or in a country not on the test exempt list are expected to meet the English language proficiency requirements.

Courses & Costs
The Registered Personal Trainer program offers a flexible, blended learning experience. The majority of the program is delivered asynchronously online with two in-person days for hands-on training and skill development:
Online Classes: February 25 to April 2, 2025 (Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 6pm–10pm)
In-Person Sessions: March 22, 2025 (Noon–8pm) and March 23, 2025 (8am–4pm)
This format allows you to balance learning with work and personal commitments while ensuring you gain practical experience needed to excel as a fitness professional.
Costs
Tuition, fees and Student Association fees total approximately $1,500. The application fee is $95.
Courses
To receive a Registered Personal Trainer document of achievement, students must successfully complete 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
Exercise Theory (SPRT-0122) | 4 CEUs
Learn the basic theory behind fitness classes including leadership, health and fitness, anatomy, physiology, applied movement mechanics, principles of training, Exercise analysis & Risk Management, body composition, program planning, workout design and basic nutrition. This course gives you the knowledge to proceed to the practical modules.
Resistance Training (SPRT-0120) | 4 CEUs
This comprehensive course teaches you to design and instruct resistance training programs for a beginner through intermediate level. This covers group settings such as weight room supervision or resistance training classes. Such programs are characterized by a strong educational component and/or actually guiding a group through their workout.
Registered Personal Trainer (SPRT-0123) | 4 CEUs
Prerequisites: Exercise Theory (SPRT-0122) and Resistance Training (SPRT-0120)
The objective of the MFC Registered Personal Trainer becoming certified as a Registered Personal Trainer is to recognize the qualifications of these leaders so that they may work effectively in an individual setting (one-on-one) within their scope of practice in the province of Manitoba. A Registered Personal Trainer provides motivation and education to an individual by administering a safe program of basic exercise in order to promote physical activity.
