Boiler Operator Level 4
Sewer & Water Utilities

The Boiler Operator will participate as part of a working team that inspects, maintains and repairs the steam and hot water boilers in City facilities and operates and maintains portable steam boilers to thaw water and sewer services.

In accordance with the Power Engineers Act, the Boiler Operator Level 4 acts as ‘chief engineer’ and has authority for all City of Brandon plants under the direct supervision of the Sewer & Water Utilities Section.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
-Grade 12, G.E.D., or Mature High School Diploma;
-Must possess a valid and subsisting Class 3 with Air Endorsement Province of Manitoba driver’s license;
-Must possess a Class 2 Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Certification;
-Must possess a valid Fourth Class Power Engineer’s Certificate as issued under the Power Engineer’s Act;
-Any other certification as required by provincial legislation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
-Minimum five (5) years’ experience operating steam and hot water boilers;
-Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in underground water and wastewater utilities;
-Hold Class 3 Certification in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection.

Rate of Pay:
$23.85 – 29.23 per hour - 2018 rates.

Position Conditions: This is a full-time, permanent position of 40 hours per week. It will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69.
