Chief Financial Officer

Overview

Our client, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, is seeking its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Working closely with the President and Chief Executive Officer, the CFO ensures financial resources and business functions effectively support achievement of WRHA’s mandate and goals. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team and as part of a provincial health ecosystem, the CFO advises on a wide range of financial issues for the organization and actively participates in problem solving and decision-making for a variety of strategic and operational issues.

The CFO leads the financial planning, financial reporting and accounting, performance and business planning, health information services and facilities support functions for the WRHA. The CFO is also a key liaison with Shared Health to support and lead WRHA in capital planning, procurement and ERP systems and planning. The CFO works closely with WRHA departments and its service provider organizations.

Qualifications

The CFO is an evolving position and requires strong leadership skills and the ability to build and lead high-performance teams. A proven strategic change leader, the ideal candidate will bring to this role a relevant degree and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation complemented by a minimum of 15 years senior experience leading the finance function in a large, complex, multi-location, multi-disciplinary and unionized organization. The successful candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of and extensive experience in service-based budgeting, leading practice financial reporting and the development and utilization of meaningful benchmarks and performance metrics. Experience leading in organizations that deliver health services would be considered an asset.
