Direct Support Worker in Winnipeg, near Garden City Shopping Centre
Overview
Position: Direct Support Workers for a lady in her home
Starting wage: $11.95 per hour
*Applicable pension and benefits after the probation period
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Start Date: ASAP preferably August 1st
Schedule: Weekends both Saturday 7 am – 7 pm and Sunday 7 am – 7 pm
IN THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS (ICOF) is a funding model in Manitoba that empowers individuals with an intellectual disability to create and live the life they choose. With the guidance and support of a Support Network (unpaid family and friends), each individual chooses where to live, manages a budget, hires staff, and chooses where to work or volunteer.
Position Summary:
We are looking for two people who are vibrant, kind, and reliable to fill weekend positions. The role would involve supporting the employer, a lady in their thirties. She enjoys engaging, watching television, and occasionally going outdoors.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Clear Adult Abuse Check and Criminal Record Check required
• Previous experience in a direct support worker role is an asset, though not necessary. Using a lift system is a plus.
• Reliable vehicle is an asset but not a requirement
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting with housekeeping activities
• Supporting the employer with meal preparation
• Assisting the employer with personal care
• Accompanying the employer for medical appointments
• Supporting the employer in taking brief walks outdoors
