Full Time, Term Position (October 2022-October 2023)
Downtown Branch, 301 Vaughan Street

At the Y, We’re looking for an individual who will oversee a dynamic and inter-disciplinary team of staff working in newcomer programs including adult language training, care for newcomer children, youth mental health, civic engagement, and recreation access. This person will plan, promote, direct, and evaluate the programs of the Newcomer Portfolio. You will regularly monitor and assess programming to ensure staff are supported and clients are receiving meaningful service.

Qualifications

Are you the right fit?
• Ability to plan, promote, direct & evaluate high quality programming to children, youth and adults
with a history of migration
• Understand and apply best practices in issues specifically working with immigrant and refugee communities
• Experience managing diverse programs and mentoring staff
• Excel in your communication and leadership skills, including working cross-culturally
• Foster, establish, and maintain effective external partnerships with ease
• Complete accurate financial and outcome reporting as well as compelling narrative reporting for funders
• Client-centered approach to your work, recognizing the systemic barriers faced & unique strengths of each person

What else do you need?

• 3-5 years similar role/Management experience
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in a Health/Social Services related field
• Knowledge of language training and youth programming for newcomers
• Knowledge of resources in settlement sector
• Trauma Informed care training
• Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) &EFA/CPR C
• Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check
• Experience with financial & narrative reporting
• Experience working with iCare and federal funding preferred
• Valid Driver’s License/access to vehicle preferred
