Overview
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Manager – Engineering Support Services, the Draftsperson is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of plant layout records, GIS maps, apps and drawings.
Major Responsibilities
1. Prepares and maintains PLATS, GIS maps and drawings of outside plant and central office facilities using computer aided drafting and GIS software.
2. Publish maps, Apps and Dashboards to ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, perform spatial analysis and various other GIS functions.
3. Prepares construction drawings as required.
4. Assists OPE or Network Engineering Specialists/Associates with fieldwork required for staking/mapping of new facilities.
5. Converts existing maps and drawings to digital/computer format by digitization or other means as applicable.
6. Operates printer/plotter to produce drawings.
7. Assists with inspection, audits and verification of telephone plant reconciliation to plant records.
8. Provides training and technical assistance to other telephone personnel as directed.
9. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and complies with all legislation and Tbaytel policies relevant to the position and the duties performed.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Three year degree or diploma, along with a specialization in GIS or post graduate certificate in GIS, from a University or College.
- A working knowledge of computer aided drafting and surveying programs, and other office related personal computer software, such as MS Office.
- Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Possesses the ability to communicate with management, coworkers, the public, and all company stakeholders in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.
