Manitoba Hydro is recruiting Technologists for a career in Relay Protection & Control.

You will be enrolled in a two-year training program that involves field experience and advanced electrical, theoretical and practical courses. You will install, maintain and repair Digital Line, Generator, Transformer, Reactor and Station Protection and Metering Systems using state of the art test equipment. Positions will be based in Winnipeg and Gillam; however successful applicants are required to work at various locations throughout the province.

Safety is our top priority and we will follow Manitoba Health's pandemic-related safety and health protocols throughout the recruitment process for this program. This will result in a longer than normal recruitment process. At this time, we expect successful candidates will start mid Spring. Anticipated start dates, and timelines for recruitment activities, may be adjusted as required given pandemic-related restrictions.

This position requires travel by air, and you will be required to confirm that you are able to meet Transport Canada's requirements for airplane travel, as they may be amended from time to time.

Currently, a number of communities and customer owned premises have a requirement that only those individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are able to enter the community or attend the premises. You will be required to confirm that you are able to meet those third party requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
-A diploma from an Electrical Engineering Technology program accredited by the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT)
OR
-Equivalent certification as an Engineering Technologist with the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM).
-Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence (intermediate or full) or equivalent.
-Capable of interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
-High degree of mechanical ability.
-Aptitude for technical skills involving computer, electrical and electronic equipment.
-Accurate colour perception.
-Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position.
-Willing to relocate to Winnipeg or Gillam.
