About the Opportunity

Our Kamloops practice is looking to add an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Consultant to our Water and Wastewater team. Are you interested in a highly multidisciplinary position that integrates environmental considerations with water and wastewater projects? This position involves data analysis, a variety of field work, environmental assessment, opportunities to work with numerous communities, and potential to grow environmental markets. Some areas of focus include wastewater compliance, reclaimed water use, biosolids/compost application, water quality assessment, and green infrastructure. Come talk to us if you are interested!

Our team of environmental professionals provides advice and works alongside clients to incorporate sustainability and environmental protection principles into community initiatives. You will be contributing your skills in service of our clients throughout British Columbia and beyond, with opportunities to grow our practice.

Alongside developing technical skills within the water and wastewater practice and building a consulting foundation with immersive project experience. Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Developing an understanding of provincial and federal regulatory context, especially with respect to legislation applicable to water and wastewater practice
• Learning water and wastewater biochemical processes
• Water and wastewater data analysis and interpretation
• Supporting regulatory approvals, design input, process, and potential solutions as it relates to the environmental components of projects
• Conducting fieldwork, especially related to water quality monitoring, whilst supporting the field work completed by the broader environmental team
• Completing basic microbiology laboratory work
• Collaborating with project team to support report writing, especially with respect to preparation of annual reports and environmental assessments
• Championing the environment and our team, within and outside of Urban Systems

Qualifications

About You

Our ideal candidate is keen to work with a team of environmental professionals interested in providing community solutions to complex environmental issues with 0-3 years of experience. This opportunity is well suited for someone with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, natural resource science, or engineering. Field/laboratory work is considered an asset. Eligibility for a professional designation with the BC College of Applied Biology and/or the BC Institute of Agrologists is preferred.
