Environmental Technologist Student

Overview

Our Virden, Manitoba or Regina, Saskatchewan office is seeking a Junior Environmental Technologist to support our growing assessment, remediation, reclamation and monitoring (ARRM) team. This is an eight-month student position starting May 2020.

This job is mainly field based and will at times require travel several hours away. On occasion our work schedules need to be flexible to meet client demands and business needs, and you may have to work outside of regular work hours to complete project or field work. This could involve long hours and extended time away in remote locations on short notice in all types of weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture
• Assist with the field coordination and execution of Phase I, II, and III environmental site assessments; remediation and ground water monitoring programs
• Assist with well abandonment activities including: surface reclamation, soil and vegetation assessments
• Support the preparation of reports and work plans
• Participate in spill responses and associated clean-up activities
• Travel as required to support field programs
• Contribute to other projects when needed

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Technical Skills:

• Must be enrolled in an environmental, geoscience, or engineering program at a recognized post-secondary institution
• Excellent problem-solving ability
• Service-oriented and have the ability to multi-task
• Self-motivated and possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• A valid driver’s license with no restrictions and clean driving record
