GIS/CAD Technician
Overview
The City of Winkler is now accepting applications for a full time GIS/CAD technician in the Planning and Engineering Department, with an anticipated start date in December 2021.
AUTHORITY
• The GIS/CAD Technician works under the supervision of the Engineering Services Manager
BASIC FUNCTIONS
• Operate and Manage GIS systems to support City Departments and Services.
• Support Infrastructure Asset management and integration with existing systems.
• To provide technical assistance for surveying and AutoCAD/GIS for capital projects, replacement, and maintenance programs particularly relating to the Planning and Engineering Department.
• Provide drafting support to other departments as directed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with field surveys & data collection on various City projects
• Produce GIS thematic maps and information reports for City departments
• Update and manage data associated to the GIS (Infrastructure, ownership, documents, etc)
• Produce Autodesk Civil3D drawings for City Planning and Engineering Department (detail drawings, engineering plans)
• Assist with maintenance of Planning & Engineering plans and records
• Conduct survey stakeout and inspection of lot grading plans
• Assist in water & wastewater sampling/monitoring
• Perform other related duties as requested and assist with the general operation of the Planning and Engineering office
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
• GIS diploma or Certified Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent experience
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil3D, GIS software, ESRI and related engineering programs
• Geomatic skills using RTK GPS, and traditional survey equipment
• Possess good communication and organizational skill
• Physically capable of performing the duties required
• Hold a valid Class 5 drivers licence
• Training in Asset Management would be considered an asset
