Overview

GRADER OPERATOR – THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF CORNWALLIS

The Grader Operator is responsible for operating equipment and performing all public works including grading, plowing, maintenance and repair on roads. This position works on an 8 hours/ day schedule in the winter and 9 hours/day in the summer, with the possibility of working overtime depending on weather conditions. The Rural Municipality of Cornwallis’s office is located just east of the City of Brandon on Veteran's Way. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Responsible for grading, plowing, and maintenance works on roads.
• Safely operate grader machine and other relevant municipal equipment with attachments.
• Perform routine inspection on all equipment and necessary maintenance or repair when needed.
• Conduct daily safety check on all equipment and closely monitor any maintenance issues and concerns.
• Adhere to all municipal policies, legislations, and safety standards in daily activities.
• Ensure all work activities are properly documented.

THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU NEED:
• Minimum 2 years of experience as Grader Operator or equivalent combination.
• Must have knowledge in road construction, grading, road repairs, traffic control, and regulatory signage.
• Minimum Class 5 driver license is required with willingness to upgrade to Class 3 once onboard.
• The ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Be flexible with working evening and weekends when required.
• Must be physically capable to lift up to 50Ibs.
