GUEST SERVICES OFFICER (2) Positions May 09-September 2, 2022

Overview

The Manitoba Agricultural Museum is seeking individuals with strong customer services skills and a willingness to help others in the position of Guest Services Officer. This is a summer student position. Criteria requirements are that the summer student be returning to school in the fall of 2022.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Guest Services Officer is responsible for the provision of exceptional customer service to our visitor, including greeting and directing guests and holding the reception desk and gift shop. They also contribute to guests’ experience by ensuring that the museum exhibits are a welcoming space for our visitors. In a small work team, the Guest Services Officer will occasionally support other staff members with grounds maintenance and programming duties.
Duties
Guest Services
o Greets guests and processes admission and gift shop sales.
o Provides directions to visitors on the grounds and engages in a respectful and engaging manner.
o Opens and closes the museum and ensures spaces are ready for guests.
o Ensures that museum exhibits are welcoming to visitors: monitors exhibits and artifacts conditions, cleans up the exhibit spaces as per guidelines provided.
o During the Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion & Stampede, provide extensive support to the organizing committee.
Maintenance, programming, and administrative support
o Provides support to always keep the grounds clean and tidy.
o Assists the team with programming and administrative tasks as required.
o Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications
o Interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in a customer-focused work environment.
o Experience working with customers.
o Experience or interest in agriculture, history, museums, education, or tourism
Assets
o Experience using a lawn mower, weed trimmer and other tools is an asset.
o Experience handling cash is an asset.
o Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset. Note that the museum is not accessible with public transportation.
o We have a campground available, if necessary
o Ability to speak additional languages is also an asset, but not a requirement.
Conditions of Employment
o Hourly wage: $12.00
o Dates of employment: May 09, 2022, to September 2, 2022, pending Grant approval.
o Part time and full-time positions.
o Flexibility is required from all staff to ensure the museum can open 7 days a week. Full availability is required during the MTRS week.
o These positions are subject to funding, through Green Team, Canada Summer Jobs and Manitoba Metis Federation employment programs. Other eligibility criteria will be checked before the interview process.
