As a member of the Landscaping Team, the Landscaping Labour Technician is responsible for helping with the installation of softscape and hard-scape projects. Hardscaping consists of paving stone, retaining walls, base prep and natural stone work. Softscaping consists of soil prep, installing trees/shrubs and sod, mulch, fabric and granular products. Any equipment or tools that you’re asked to operate you will be trained on. You must also ensure Alternative Landscaping’s Core Values of Trust, Integrity, Quality, Respect, Caring and Accountability; current standards; safety regulations; policies; and procedures are adhered to.
As a landscape technician your responsibilities entail; The job is physically demanding, strenuous and can be monotonous at times. You will be working under the direction of the crew Foreman or Crew Leader and will need to follow their direction and leadership when asked to. Our work schedule is typically Monday to Friday with an average of 100hr pay periods. We pay OT after 100 hrs. We ask that you come to work willing and ready each and every day and work to the best of your ability. Alternative Landscaping is seeking a Landscaping Labour Technician. The successful candidate will possess strong work habits, communication and organizational skills, and have a keen attention to detail. Superior organization, process and safety qualities are critical to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within time and budget parameters. The successful candidate will strive to produce quality outcomes effectively and efficiently, while meeting all safety standards.
As a member of the Landscaping Team, the Landscaping Labour Technician is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks to complete all landscaping service contracts. They are required to ensure they are operating safety and efficiently. They are responsible for communication with the supervisor; participating team huddles and weekly safety meeting; ensuring company values, current standards, safety regulations, policies, and procedures are adhered to.

Qualifications

Requirements:
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to take and follow direction and act on tasks required in an efficient manner
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Strong knowledge and focus on safety
• Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow
• Demonstrated proficiency in professional communication, including written, oral and listening skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and address personnel issues respectfully understanding and living company Core Values
• Attention to detail and commitment to a high level of accuracy
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as with a team
• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
• Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various construction practices
Work Conditions:
• Ability to work with equipment, hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
• Ability to work in all kinds of winter and summer weather conditions
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Requires good manual dexterity
• Excellent stamina is required
• Work near equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
• Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
Job Types: Full-time
Salary: $15 to $18 per hour
