Maintenance Foreman – Manitoba and Saskatchewan

Overview

We have an immediate opening for a motivated, hardworking Maintenance Foreman with experience in construction and agriculture to work at our various grain terminals in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The Foreman will be required to manage a crew of at least two workers to fix and maintain wooden elevators and terminals across Manitoba and partial Saskatchewan. The role is best suited for someone who is a hands-on leader with flexible availability to travel.

Responsibilities:

Assessing condition and maintenance of grain elevator equipment including but not limited to: bucket elevators, drag and belt conveyors, bearings, belt replacements, gear drives, aluminum siding, roofing, spouting, cleaning equipment and so forth;
Daily supervision of multi-trades construction crew; Scheduling/inspecting sub-contracted work;
Keeping PTC Head Office appraised of the situation at the site and any changes that may impact budgets, schedules or general work progress;
Adhering to daily work schedules based on weekly construction plan provided by Manager;
Coordinating delivery of material and resource requirements for the site with the Project Manager and Maintenance Manager, ensuring efficient allocation;
Reviewing blueprints and designs and ensuring work is completed according to specifications;
Regularly reviewing progress and future scheduling with the PTC management team;
Tracking and taking receipt of supplies and deliveries; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in either agricultural construction or grain terminal maintenance;
Minimum 2 years’ experience in millwright work, iron work and equipment operation;
Ability to work at heights and bend, push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs consistently;
Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in construction and maintenance, agriculture experience and knowledge is an asset;
Experience welding, torching and metal fabrication considered an asset;
Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

As PTC’s maintenance work takes place across the Prairies, you may be required to work away from home for the duration of the work, including some weekends.  For maintenance jobs with longer durations, a 10 on and 4 off schedule may be required as assessed by the Maintenance Manager.  PTC Foremen and Superintendents are compensated through a living allowance that enables them to maintain a second residence near the jobsite.
