Job Summary
The role of the Manual Machinist is to produce dimensionally and visually correct parts in accordance with drawing specifications and production schedule. Must be proficient in all manual machine shop tasks and be willing and able to lead and train other employees and apprentices.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide High level machining skill and comprehension.
• Dimensionally and visually verify finished part quality
• Proficient in all manual Lathe operations including advanced threading, precision turning & boring in both large and small part production.
• Leadership skills relating to the guidance of apprentice machinists.
• Handle, transport, and process product and materials using equipment.
• Operate and inspect material handling equipment (overhead cranes); mobile equipment (forklifts)
• Good housekeeping practices, to help maintain safe work areas for yourself and your co-workers
• Work independently and in a team environment.
• Must always comply with the safety requirements before performing any job assignments
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following characteristics:
Experience – Minimum 5 years’ experience in a machining environment
Education – Red Seal Machining Journeyperson Certificate
Skills – Applicant must be able to multi-task, have strong drawing interpretation skills, & mechanical aptitude
