Materials Technician

Overview

The materials technician will be required to provide quality control testing services for soils and concrete on various construction sites throughout Manitoba, as well as undertaking quality control testing on concrete and soil samples within the Wood Winnipeg materials laboratory.

Field duties would generally include testing of concrete or soils and aggregates during placement for quality control purposes, and communicating results of that testing with clients and/or contractors on site.

Laboratory duties would generally include compressive strength testing of concrete samples as well as aggregate and soils testing including sieve analyses, proctor testing, asphalt evaluation and others as assigned.

Occasional out of town work, as well as weekend and overtime work, should be expected.

The successful candidate will require a valid Class 5 driver's license as well as provide a driver's abstract at the time an offer is presented.

Candidates will be required to pass a concrete testing certification exam administered through the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL). All materials and training required to write the exam and perform the field audit will be provided by Wood prior to the examination.

Additional internal audits and examinations to confirm the candidates ability to perform quality control tests will be administered as required. All materials and training will be provided by Wood.
