THE ROLE: The Royal Canadian Artillery Museum is a museum dedicated to telling the complete story of the more than 200,000 Canadian Gunners who have served Canada in war and peace since 1855. The museum is Canada’s National Artillery Museum, a Manitoba Star Attraction and one of the largest military museums in Canada. In 1962, the RCA Museum was established within CFB Shilo in order to preserve and interpret this proud heritage for future generations.

Under the Supervision of The RCA Museum Senior Curator, the Research Intern may assist in the research, preparation and presentation of interpretative material relating to themes and programs of the RCA Museum. The Research Intern may assist curatorial staff with research, documentation and care of The RCA Museum's collections, and provide interpretation and research assistance to individual clients and group tours.

THE LOCATION: CFB Shilo is home to the First Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and the Second Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. With a population of about 1,400 military personnel and their families, the Base is completely autonomous with accommodations for more than 600 families and quarters for close to 400 single personnel.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
· Be a student engaged in a university program with a history, museum studies or education major.
AND
· Have experience in conducting historical research.
· List experience:
• In conducting detailed research using a variety of resources.
• In office administration.
• In working with the public, including children.
· Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership (our shared competencies).
