Occupational Health Nurse

Overview

The Occupational Health Nurse is the center of coordinated care for individual employee needs and has the responsibility for delivering comprehensive and qualified services and programs that meet or exceed Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Developing and implementing health and safety programs
• Developing disease prevention programs
• Observing and assessing the work environment for potential dangers and hazards
• Treating injuries and illnesses for employees, including follow-ups and referrals
• Support emergency and disaster preparedness programs and planning
• Counseling employees on physical and mental health issues and guiding them toward community resources and/or employee assistance programs
• Responsible for coordinating cost effective occupational health services and programs; continuous monitoring to ensure the best quality, most cost-effective vendor products and services.
• Bring awareness of current legislative activities that may impact nursing practices, workers, workplaces and the environment.
• Monitoring the health status of employees

HOURS/SHIFTS
Monday - Friday;
6am – 12am
Some Saturdays
Shift work may be required

Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING
• Registered Nurses (RNs) with a diploma and/or degree in Nursing.
• Occupational Health Nursing or a university diploma in Occupational Health.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCES
• Minimum 5 years of clinical practice
• Ability to coordinate employee health screening and surveillance programs and services; monitor work environments to protect the health and safety of employees
• Skills to implement occupational and environmental health and safety training and education
• Ability to identify and share resources and applications to help support relevant evidence-based practices
