PROGRAMMING OFFICER - May 09 to Sept 02, 2022

Overview

The Manitoba Agricultural Museum is seeking an individual with customer services skills and programming experience in the position of Programming Officer.
This is a summer student position. Criteria requirements are that the summer student must be returning to school in the fall of 2022.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Programming Officer is responsible for the coordination and delivery of museum’s programming initiatives, including school programs, museum tours and public events. In a small work team, the Programming Officer will occasionally support other staff members with customer service, grounds maintenance and admission duties.

Duties
Programming
o Supports the Hands-on Program for schools (May-June): supports the program volunteers, delivers museum tours and hands-on activities as required, sets up and cleans up picnic area and activities, encourages teachers to provide feedback.
o Provides tours to the public and develops with the Operations Manager custom programming and tours.
o Provides feedback and proposes ideas to contribute to the evaluation and betterment of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum’s programming offer.
o Supports special events and other efforts focused on visitor experience.
Customer service and administrative support
o Provides support to always keep the grounds clean and tidy.
o Assists the team with reception and opening/closing duties and administrative tasks during peak season.
o Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

o Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
o Interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in a customer-focused work environment.
o Programming experience or experience working with children.
o Experience or interest in agriculture, history, museums, education, or tourism
Assets
o Experience handling cash is an asset.
o Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset. Note that the museum is not accessible with public transportation.
o We have a campground for accommodation, if necessary
o Ability to speak additional languages is also an asset, however not a requirement.
Conditions of Employment
o Hourly wage: $12.00
o Dates of employment: May 09, 2022, to September 2, 2022 (pending grant approval)
o Work week is 40 hr.
o Flexibility is required from all staff to ensure the museum can open 7 days a week. Full availability is required during the MTRS week.
o This position is subject to funding, through the Green Team program. Candidates must be students going back to school in the fall, living in Manitoba and legally entitled to work in Canada.
