Sheet Metal Mechanic - Welder

Overview

Quest Metal Products is looking to find a Sheet Metal Mechanic for our manufacturing operations in Winnipeg. You’ll be an integral part of the team’s operations, trusted to complete challenging projects. This position requires initiative, drive to deliver on goals, and a high attention to detail. This is an ideal position for an individual who is looking to create quality, artisan level products in a steady and challenging environment.

What You’ll Do:

-Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products.
-Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators, and squares.
-Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last.
-Install assemblies, including tables, sinks, appliances, hoods, and other stainless fixtures.
-Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and a seamless appearance.
-Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications.
-Ensure safety is a priority on the job during all activities, including using tools and installing and fabricating metal.

Qualifications

-You have completed a Welding diploma program, and have recent welding experience.
-You have experience or some knowledge of with T.I.G. welding on light gauge stainless steel.
-You have fabrication experience that includes a knowledge of layout, fabrication, and welding.
-You are comfortable reading, interpreting, and understanding blueprints.
-You are a problem solver and can be flexible in response to changing priorities and needs.
-You are goal oriented, committed to deliverables, detail and deadline oriented.
-You have an excellent understanding of the safety practices and procedures in a fabricating environment.
-You are comfortable in a team and independent work environment.
-You are comfortable with giving and receiving feedback.
-You can regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and/or frequently lift.
-CNC, assembly, metal working, or mechanic experience is an asset, but not required.
