Vegetation Management Technician

Overview

ACE Vegetation is a locally owned and operated company with over 40 years experience in this diverse industry. We provide environmental vegetation management and reclamation services including invasive species control, mowing/mulching services, problem vegetation control, and revegetation solutions. Our services extend to multiple industries such as oil and gas, industrial/commercial, environmental and reclamation, forestry, and right-of-way services to name a few. Our company takes pride in safety, and we offer an industry leading training program to all our new team members. Position Details:
- Full Time, Seasonal 4-month contract: May-August (possible extension)
- Hands on training program at start of season (1 week) with paid accommodations, and daily wages/course expenses covered for all training not considered prerequisites to this position

Responsibilities:
- Provide vegetation management services to clients through herbicide application or mechanical removal
- Operate trucks, UTV’s, mowers, weed whips, and various spray equipment
- Complete and submit data collection, client records, and paperwork on time
- Vegetation identification, specifically for invasive species
- Proper housekeeping and maintenance of all work equipment, including PPE
- Participate in daily hazard inspections, crew safety meetings, and follow all ACE safety protocols
- Provide clients with excellent work while displaying a professional and positive attitude
- Understand and follow legislative guidelines regarding herbicide application

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years old
- Valid driver's license for minimum 1-year, clean drivers abstract
- Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol Test
- Comply with client specific COVID-19 protocols
- English speaking
- Ability to use electronics (laptops/iPhone)
- Available to work overtime and travel as this is a field-based position
- Obtain mandatory certifications such as:
 Standard First Aid/CPR Level C & AED
 H2S Alive
 Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
 Bear Awareness
 UTV Certification (prerequisite, facilitated on site by ACE)
 Authorized Assistant License (prerequisite, facilitated on site by ACE)
**Prerequisite certifications are not mandatory prior to applying and we can assist with organizing these courses on an individual basis as needed**

Desired Skills/Assets:
- Previous herbicide application experience and related skills are desired but not essential
- Priority will be given to those possessing valid Certified Applicator License
- Experience with trucks, trailers, UTV’s, mowers, weed whips, or tractors (asset)
- Mechanical and problem-solving skills (asset)
- Experience driving with trailers and securing equipment (asset)
- Ability to complete physically demanding outdoor work for extended periods of time
- Strong safety mindset and attitude
- Ability to work in a team environment, without direct supervision
- Capable of being flexible with changing job conditions and weather
- Excellent communication skills and accountability
- Professional mindset

Additional:
- Wages are based on level of experience, applicable skills, and spray licenses. Average VMT seasonal earnings range from $15,000 - $25,000
- ACE can accommodate CO-OP positions
- Any additional training throughout the summer required by our clients will be paid for by ACE
** ACE facilitates on-site group UTV Certification and Authorized Assistant Training/Licensing for our 2022 VMT team. These are considered prerequisites to the position but can be difficult to organize on an individual basis. Therefore, ACE organizes this training for our new team members, while covering additional expenses on these two days which includes paid accommodations, course cost, and travel. **
