Welder

McCain Foods (Canada) has an immediate opening for a Red Seal Welder at its potato processing facility in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful applicant will assume duties and responsibilities of a welder, directed to the goal of improving equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Work under the direction of and reports to the Maintenance Supervsisor.
Make up and complete computerized work orders as required.
Control material usage and wastage.
Ensure the proper use of tools and equipment for each job assignment.
Perform routine preventative and Emergency weld repairs on plant piping and equipment.
Accurately relate/maintain all required documentation.
Perform all duties in a safe, accurate and efficient manner.
Housekeeping of work area to established standards.
Provide help to the Engineering Department as required

Duties:

Ability to weld:
SMAW
GTAW
GMAW
Prior pipe welding experience and have and be able to pass F-3 SMAW, F-4 SMAW, F-6 GTAW welding cert on company procedures.
Safely operate Oxy-acetylene torch and Plasma
Be proficient in using fabricating equipment and safely using Ironworker, band saw, grinders and belt sander.
Experience in fabrication and repair of stainless steel processing equipment.
Comfortable in filling out emergency repair and QA forms for submission to OFC.
Ability to work on a rotating shift basis.
Physically capable of performing all required duties, i.e.
Climbing, kneeling, walking, etc.
Work in extreme temperatures, in high humidity and dusty conditions.
Work at heights using ladders scissor lifts and boom lifts
Function in a noisy environment and wear hearing protection as required.
Work with all required safety equipment.
Demonstrated mechanical, cutting and welding ability through the successful completion of practical testing (Plasma, Arc, MIG & TIG Welding).
Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and draw schematics through the successful completion of a practical test.
