Yard Operator (Forklift)
Overview
Position Type: Full Time or Part Time
Reports to: Store Manager or Greenhouse Manager
Position Overview
Provide exceptional customer service and assistance to anyone entering and leaving the yard site
Load and unload customers who purchase or rent equipment and/or materials
Receive and unload deliveries of sod, bricks, plants, and all other materials to the yard site
Deliver equipment, product and/or material to customers as needed/when requested
Assist customers with handling heavy loads/lifting heavy materials, products and/or equipment Maintain an organized and clean yard site at all times
Operate equipment within yard safely to ensure no damage to customer or workplace property
Perform equipment pre/post trip inspections, Yard Hazard Assessments and other safety documentation as required
Respond to two-way radio calls immediately to assist customers
Assist Supply & Inventory Manager as assigned Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills
Grade 12 or equivalent
Possess, at minimum, valid class 5 driver’s license
Minimum 1 year experience operating equipment (Skid Steer, Loader, Forklift etc.) required
Ability to demonstrate safe operations of all equipment required
Experience working in a brick/supply yard setting or similar role; a considerable asset
Experience loading/unloading vehicles with equipment
Experience loading and securing equipment and supplies on trailers for delivery
Possess basic knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment & supplies
Core Competencies:
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Frequent lifting, carrying, balancing, etc.
Physically capable of handling heavy loads
Ability to walk, stand, climb in/out of equipment for long periods of time
Thorough and attention to detail

Good verbal and written communication
Excellent organization and problem solving skills
Flexibility to work various shifts
Ability to take direction and work well with a team or independently
