Agriculture Lab Technician
Overview
The technician will be responsible for agriculture microbiology and plant science related lab and growth room activities, including (not limited to): quality control & quality assurance (QA/QC) of products; maintenance & monitoring of instruments; laboratory maintenance & inventory management; culturing, plating & maintenance of pure microorganisms; experimental planning & set up; growing & harvesting of plants; lab analysis and routine maintenance of aseptic conditions.
Qualifications
A degree or diploma in agriculture, plant science, soil science, microbiology or biology, with adequate experience and a valid Manitoba driving license is required. Farming background or knowledge in Canadian farming would be an asset. Suitable candidate should have strong commitment to accuracy & team environment, detail-oriented, methodical and organized as well as flexibility to work extended hours when necessary for research work. Good computer competency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, Publisher and Outlook is required. Conversant with social media is an added advantage.
