Agronomy/Product Development Summer Student

Overview

Objectives:
• Gain experience with regional crops and UPL Canada product portfolio
• To gain knowledge in initiating and implementing large scale grower and small-scale product development trials
• Develop customer relationship skills by working with and observing interactions between Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) and growers
• Obtain experience with project presentation skills and working in a team environment
• Increase agronomic skills in the field of weed, insect and disease identification, pesticide application and biosolution use

Job Duties:
• Assist in initiation and management of field demonstration and product development plots where product data is collected, analyzed, and summarized
• Assist in application of product for research and development trials
• Assist in agronomy product trials at Ag in Motion
• Build interpersonal and communication skills while working closely with Technical Support Specialist, consultants, retails and customers
• Maintain and observe safe working conditions

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing an Agriculture related Bachelor's degree or Agriculture diploma from an accredited program (Agri-Business or Agronomy major preferred)
• Must be able to work independently from a home office
• Skilled in computer use (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
• Superior work ethic and highly motivated
• Leadership and interpersonal skills/experience desired
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
• Written and oral communication skills, with ability to influence decision-making
• Basic knowledge of farming practices
• Agriculture/agronomy background is preferred
