The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one, full time Coordinator position within our Beyond Borders Department located at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Director of Beyond Borders, the Beyond Borders Coordinator primary responsibility is to maintain data on Red River Métis Beyond Borders Citizens and conduct in-depth research on political and policy matters related to the Red River Métis Beyond Borders initiative. The position is based at the Home Office and works closely with various other portfolios as assigned

Qualifications

Job Duties/Competencies:
• Create and maintain database;
• Collect and review data;
• Research comparable policy and/or program data from other jurisdictions;
• Provide policy advice and analysis;
• Attend and coordinate meetings;
• Assist in program development in various sectors;
• Assist in governance development;
• Provide education on the MMF, update on our activities and future governance which include voting, constitutional amendments, programs and services delivery, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in political science, social sciences, native studies, business administration, or other program with essay and report writing, with several years of experience in policy and program development or equivalent;
• Knowledge of computer word processing, spreadsheet programs;
• Experience conducting research, presenting research;
• Experience preparing reports and budgets;
• Experience implementing strategies for department;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
