Overview

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for a knowledgeable and dependable individual to join our team at Canada Life Centre.

The Building Engineer & Ice Technician will work with a team to ensure that the mechanical aspects of Canada Life Centre are performing efficiently and effectively, in order to provide a safe and enjoyable environment to our patrons.

What to be excited for in this role:

Maintain building mechanical equipment including but not limited to: Compressors, pumps (heat, water, and brine), building automation systems, boilers, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
Personal responsibility and leadership of others in ensuring compliance with facility rules, regulations and procedures regarding safety and safe work procedures.
Maintenance of compressors, motors, lines, condensers, pumps, and chillers for ice plant.
Assist with all issues pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the ammonia ice plant and all other facility mechanical systems.
Maintaining an exceptional standard of ice, including flooding and removal; operating various ice maintenance equipment.
Liaise between the company and mechanical contractors.
Maintain detailed job logs of all duties and maintenance.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we need from you:

Must possess a Manitoba W Class Refrigeration Power Engineer's certificate.
Valid Manitoba 4th & 5th Class Refrigeration Power Engineer’s certificate is an asset.
Experience in maintenance at a sports & entertainment facility is considered an asset.
Hands on and strong knowledge of general maintenance.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Good organizational and record keeping abilities.
Ability to work well and add value as part of a small team of power engineers working within the much larger team at True North.
Ability to maintain composure and make detailed decisions under stressful situations.
Must be flexible and willing to work extended hours, evenings and weekends as required. Must be available for 24-hour facility related emergencies.
Must possess class 5 Manitoba drivers’ license.
