About Lavi Construction
Lavi Construction is a quality-focused builder delivering high-end residential custom homes, island/lakefront cottages, and select commercial projects across Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. We pride ourselves on fine craftsmanship, site safety, and a strong crew culture.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled, versatile Carpenter (Journeyperson or Experienced Apprentice) to join our team. In this role, you will work on custom residential framing, exterior finishing, timber framing, and high-end interior carpentry for waterfront cottages in Northwestern Ontario and residential projects in the Winnipeg area.
Based out of Winnipeg, you will travel with the crew to job sites in Northwestern Ontario (e.g., Kenora / Lake of the Woods region), with periodic short-term overnight stays during major construction phases. Paid travel, accommodation, and food per diems are provided.
Key Responsibilities
Framing & Structural Work: Read prints and execute layout, floors, walls, roof trusses, and custom roof structures for high-end cottages.
Exterior & Interior Finish Work: Install siding, soffit/fascia, custom decks, doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, and interior wood finishes.
Site Execution & Quality: Work efficiently while maintaining exacting standards for structural integrity and aesthetic detail.
Safety & Maintenance: Adhere to workplace safety standards, maintain a clean site, and ensure safe operation of all power tools and equipment.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Site Superintendent, sub-trades, and fellow crew members to meet project timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 3+ years of practical carpentry experience in residential construction (framing, exterior cladding, or finish carpentry experience preferred). Journeyperson status is an asset, but proven hands-on skill is most important.
Tools: Possession of basic hand tools and personal pouch/rig (specialized power tools provided on site).
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to Northwestern Ontario for multi-day/overnight work stretches.
Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read architectural plans, timber layouts, and structural drawings.
Physical Capability: Able to perform heavy physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work comfortably at heights/scaffolding in outdoor conditions.
What We Offer
Competitive Wages: Top hourly rates based on experience and trade ticket.
Vehicle Options: Choice of a Company Truck (for lead/senior carpenters) or a Vehicle Allowance (plus mileage reimbursement at standard CRA rates when using your personal vehicle).
Gear & Safety Allowances: Annual Tool Allowance and PPE Allowance (boots, safety gear) to keep your rig updated.
Travel Benefits: Fully paid accommodations, per diems, and travel coverage for out-of-town jobs.
Unbeatable Work Environment: Build custom, architectural cottages in pristine Northwestern Ontario locations—enjoy world-class fishing and outdoor recreation right after work!
Year-Round Work: Consistent, steady hours with opportunities for career growth into lead or supervisory roles.
