About the Opportunity

Our fast-paced Calgary office is looking to hire a highly capable Civil Drafting Technologist to join our Design Production Team (DPT). The DPT is an integral part of both our practice and the ability to deliver excellent service to our clients across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia.

As a Civil Drafting Technologist, you will be responsible for working alongside our team of engineering, planning and drafting specialists to translate high-level conceptual designs from preliminary, through to detailed design. The entire spectrum of work is something that our DPT members navigate and explore every day. Some of your daily responsibilities will be:

• Carrying out design drawing tasks and/or AutoCAD assignments 
• Support engineering personnel in the field with design, drawing production and/or construction specifications
• Ensuring quality control of your design production work
• Communicating with project leaders
• Performing a variety of defined assignments with independent judgment
• Advising and review of technical challenges
• Assisting with project timelines and ensuring deadlines are met

Qualifications

About You

Our preferred candidate is a recent graduate from an Engineering Design & Drafting Technology or Civil Engineering Technology program with up to two years of experience, and possesses the following skills, strengths, and interests:

• A keen interest in stormwater management design and analysis
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software 
• Experience and understanding of GIS is an asset
• Excellent drafting skills and knowledge of drawing set-up and production
• A keen eye for detail and takes great pride in their work, in projects both large and small
• Effective communication and writing abilities
• Committed to ongoing personal and professional development
• Certification or eligible for certification with ASET
• Valid class 5 drivers license
