Class 1 Driver
Overview
The Excavation Team at Alternative Landscaping Ltd. works on a wide range of projects, including sewer and water installation, total lot clearing, demolition, site preparation excavation and backfilling.
We're looking for experienced Class 1 drivers to join our team.
About the Job:
-Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailer, tandem vehicles and straight-body trucks to transport goods and materials mainly on local and short-haul routes; may drive special purpose trucks such as sand truck, concrete mixer, or dump trucks.
-Perform pre-trip, enroute and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment.
-Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting goods.
-Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption, administer bills of lading, and manually or electronically maintain log.
-Perform general labour duties on occasion to assist project crews.
Qualifications
Requirements:
-Demonstrated work experience as a Class 1 Driver.
-Practical experience with electronic/cellular equipment and software.
-Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
-Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
-Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
-Valid Class 1 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
-Mechanical skills to correctly identify equipment issues.
-Strong attention to detail (aware and observant) always to notice anything that may compromise job safety or construction tasks.
