Commodity Trading Internship:
Our Commodity Trading Internship program enables the individual to establish relationships with internal and external customers in order to successfully buy, move, process, and/or sell grain and its products. It is the blending of skills and knowledge in a fast paced, dynamic working environment. The trading intern will practice and grow their understanding in economics, communications, customer service, risk assessment, and decision-making. Imagine an internship where you get the chance to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a real-life environment and then multiply that tenfold. From day one, you will be an integral part of the team. Internships are 16 weeks long, and we pride ourselves on having one of the most diverse internship programs in the industry. During the internship, you will tackle real challenges, cultivate your curiosity, have client exposure, enjoy both personal and team accomplishments and have your initiative acknowledged along the way. You will collaborate and form relationships with colleagues and clients who represent diverse work, culture and resolution styles. We look for people who want to grow, support, think and produce!
Principal Accountabilities:
• Develop and maintain customer relationships with country elevators, producers, feed mills, end users and processors
• Analyze supply and demand, survey market conditions, and other economic forces in order to maintain and grow Cargill's position in the market place
• Initiate, and agree on terms of commodity purchase/sale contracts, such as price, quality, quantity, transportation, timing and payment
• Coordinate transportation and logistics to execute commodity contracts
• Ensure detailed and accurate follow-up, execution, and closure of all contracts
• Provide timely and effective communication and interaction with other Cargill teams such as sales, transportation and logistics, quality assurance, plant personnel, engineers, and accountants
• Make occasional plant and crop survey trips to visit with suppliers, and internal and external customers
• Complete and present a project that is essential to the work process, customer interaction or market improvement
• Complete and collaborate on other projects and assignments as needed

Internship details:
• Internships are paid and are at least 16 weeks in duration. 
• Interns are paid hourly for time worked.
• Housing assistance and relocation reimbursement is offered to those who qualify (based on mileage). 
• Interns are responsible for transportation to and from work.
• Interns who demonstrate outstanding performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered an internship, co-op or full-time position to return the following year.

Application Process:
• Candidates who meet the required qualifications below and who are selected for a first round interview will be asked to complete an assessment within 72 hours of the interview. Then selected finalists will be invited to an in-person interview at a Cargill office or virtually if needed.

• Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited program graduating between December 2024 and August 2026
• Successfully completed, currently enrolled, or planning to complete before graduating, either a Micro or Macro introductory collegelevel Economics course
• Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
• Able to complete a 16week internship May- August 2024
• Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
• Strong communication skills written and oral
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and

Preferred Qualifications:
• Pursuing a degree graduating between December 2024 and August 2025
• Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited program with a major or emphasis in Business or Ag Economics
• Geographically flexible and willing to relocate
