Position Conditions: This is a full-time, casual position of 36.25 hours per week. It will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. First consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position.
Rate of Pay: $18.44 per hour (2026 Rates)
Dates: May 4, 2026- August 28, 2026 (dates to be finalized upon hiring)
Hours: 36.25 hours/week- Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
Location: A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex
Closing Date: 11:59pm on April 24, 2026.
This competition may include testing and an interview.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Community Housing & Wellness Coordinator, the incumbent will work with the team to support existing programs, seasonal downtown wellness initiatives, encampment response, and various administrative type duties as assigned. This individual must be community minded and have baseline knowledge about social programs and a strong desire to work in collaboration with community partners and residents. They will work closely with the Community Housing & Wellness Coordinator and Programmer.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Highly organized with demonstrated abilities in program administration including familiarity with Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Teams, Word, Power Point and Excel.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of existing local social service networks.
• Basic knowledge of local, provincial and national housing and/or social issues.
• Ability to establish rapport with community members and peers.
• Ability to work in social situations involving homelessness, addictions and mental health disorders with empathy and confidentiality.
• Ability to handle sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner.
• Hold and maintain Class 5 Province of Manitoba driver’s license.
• Must be eligible for employment under the Urban/Hometown Green Team Program, including being a youth between the ages of 15-29.
• Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, Grade 12 or post‑secondary education in a related field such as social work, social sciences, community development planning, communications, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in an administrative, non-profit, or social services environment is considered an asset.
• Lived experience related to housing insecurity, community wellness, or engagement with social support systems is considered an asset.
RESPONSABILITIES
• Provide general administrative support to the Community Housing & Wellness team, including data entry, record keeping, program summaries, reports, meeting materials and organizing digital and paper program documentation.
• Support the administration of housing and wellness programs by tracking program activity, updating spreadsheets and databases, and maintaining accurate records.
• Support seasonal downtown wellness initiatives, including litter pick‑up programs, graffiti removal coordination, outdoor art program, and other community improvement activities.
• Assist team with coordination and documentation related to homeless encampment response activities, including data tracking and outreach support as appropriate and directed.
• Liaise with internal City departments and external community partners as directed, to support coordination of housing and wellness initiatives.
• Respond to resident inquiries related to housing and wellness topics under the direction of the Community Housing & Wellness Coordinator.
• Participate in team meetings, training, basic research and information gathering, and job‑shadowing opportunities to gain an understanding of municipal community housing and wellness functions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the effective delivery of City of Brandon Community Housing & Wellness services during peak summer operational periods.
