Position Details: Full Time, Fixed Term (approx. May – Aug, with possibility of extension)
Salary: Starting salary at $17.53/hr, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual's education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

Native Plant Solutions (NPS), a consulting branch of DUC, is the most experienced company in Canada in naturalized stormwater system design, construction, and management.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will be working with other staff to perform activities related to the establishment, management, and maintenance of NPS’s wetland and upland projects, including:
• Operating equipment for seeding and seed processing activities
• Managing chemical and mechanical weed control
• Conducting controlled burns to promote land health and habitat restoration
• Assist with fence installation and removal
• Install and maintain erosion control products
• Participate in tree planting and wetland hand-planting
• Assisting in vegetation monitoring and assessments
• Working with other staff to perform activities related to the establishment, management, and maintenance of habitat programs
Equipment operation may include operation of tractors, seeders, ATV’s, trailers, backpack sprayers, and/or weedwhackers.
This position will involve heavy lifting, physical work and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Our ideal candidate will be able to take direction and execute tasks in a safe and efficient manner without direct supervision. There may be times when you will be required to travel to various communities or remote areas.
Qualifications
Requirements
• Relevant work experience in one or more of the following specialties: plant and/or wetland ecology, agriculture/farming, greenspace management, plant science, environmental science, or landscaping is an asset.
• Experience in one or more of the following: plant identification, weed management, herbicide handling and application, soil erosion management.
• May be required to take, and pass, pesticide applicators license exam (all related time and exam cost will be covered by DUC)
• Ability to work non-standard, flexible hours, which may include overtime
• Comfortable working as part of a team or independently
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Enrollment in a full-time post-secondary program in agriculture, engineering, biology, plant ecology, environmental science, sustainability or similar field is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook
