Overview

Our Cook I needs some help to run the best camp kitchen in the area. If you have refined taste buds and a flair for the delicious, this is the summer job for you. If you’re also enthusiastic, patient and fun, you could be the one we’re looking for. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Administrator, the Cook II assists the Cook I to ensure the safe handling, preparation and serving of food for staff, volunteers, campers and guests. The Cook II consistently implements the highest standards for quality and safety to enhance the reputation and credibility of the organization. The workload is consistently managed with effective teamwork, collaborative practices and cost-effective use of resources.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- able to work within, and support, principles of the Christian faith as determined by the Bishop
- evidence of sensitivity to the needs of young people with an ability to respond appropriately
- ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member
- ability to prepare nutritious meals and snacks
- demonstrates enthusiasm, sense of humour, patience and self-control
- able to problem-solve using sound judgment
- physically and psychologically capable of carrying out the requirements of the position
- possesses vision, hearing and mobility sufficient to protect self and others in dangerous situations
- capable of lifting and transferring 15 – 25 kgs in a safe manner
- able to perform duties on a regular basis (i.e., good attendance)
- ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- for staff over 18, satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- experience working in a faith-based, or a non-profit organization
- formal education related to food preparation
- Food Safe Certification within the past two years
- CPR-C and Emergency (or Standard) First Aid Certification within the past two years
- WHMIS
 valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
- Student returning to school
