Director of Economic Development
Overview
Reporting to the City Manager and working as part of the Department Head Team, the Director of Economic Development is responsible for developing strategies, programs, services, and relationships with the objective of growing the local economy and population, facilitating tourism activity in the city, and leading and managing department human resources to ensure department goals are achieved.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Grade 12, G.E.D. , or Mature High School Diploma
- Post-secondary degree or diploma
The Director of Economic Development would normally attain the required knowledge, skills and abilities through completion of a Diploma or Degree in Economic Development and/or Business Administration combined with related business /financial experience. Equivalencies will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a progressive leadership position
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of Economic Development or operating a business.
