Overview

Long Plain Little Hands Head Start program is seeking two (2) full-time Early Childhood Educators II (ECE II) positions for our Aboriginal Head Start (AHS) Program.
Little Hands Head Start ECE II – Job Description
Reports to: Head Start Coordinator
Position Summary: The Early Childhood Educator II works collaboratively with families, staff, and community partners to plan and deliver developmentally appropriate and culturally grounded programming for children aged 3-5. This role focuses on fostering school readiness, supporting family involvement, and promoting the health and well-being of each child through daily routines, play-based learning, and traditional teachings within the Head Start environment.  

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest, and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
Plan and keep an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and report to the Head Start Coordinator for further support
Guide and aid children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
Establish and support collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

Qualifications

Must possess a Manitoba ECE II or ECE III classification 
Current First Aid & CPR Level C certifications 
Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Persons Search and Child Abuse Registry Check 
Self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and able to demonstrate leadership qualities 
Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
Strong understanding of play-based learning and child development
