Position Conditions: These are a full-time permanent and a full-time term position of 36.25 hours per week. It will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. Should the incumbent not return to the position, this term may become permanent.
Rate of Pay: $28.43 (Level 1) – $32.05 (Level 3) per hour - 2023 rates. Level 4 ($37.90) rate is achieved by completing 3,770 regular hours of experience at Level 3, obtaining CET certification from CTTAM, and meeting the position's responsibilities. PURPOSE OF POSITION
This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to participate as part of the Construction and Design team. The Survey Crew Chief leads the survey crew which conducts field surveys, inspections or technical investigations of topography, soils, drainage and water supply systems, road and highway systems, buildings, and structures to provide data for engineering projects related to municipal maintenance, construction and planning projects required for the safe and efficient construction of the City’s underground utilities and roadways. This successful candidate will need the ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Must possess a valid and subsisting Class 5 Province of Manitoba driver’s license.
Grade 12, G.E.D, C.A.E.C, or Mature High School Diploma;
Certificate in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent with surveying course work;
Hold or obtain within three (3) years of appointment a Certified Technician (C. Tech.) designation;
Proficient use of CADD equipment and software (AutoCAD; Civil3D);
Proficiency in the use of desktop computer applications (Excel and Word);
One (1) year of experience in the use of survey data collection apparatuses, including Total Station, GPS, Laser Scanners, Aerial Drones and survey controllers;
Any additional certification required under Provincial guidelines and legislation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Hold, or obtain within three (3) years of appointment a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) Designation;
Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in an engineering environment;
Experience in use of ESRI suite of software (ArcView/ArcMap);
Hold or obtain within three (3) years’ of appointment a Drone Pilot Certificate.
