Financial Administrative Assistant

Overview

The Financial Administrative Assistant is an excellent entry-level financial position to a career in municipal administration. After 6 months of employment, municipal benefits are offered including: Blue Cross Insurance and an employer-matching RPP Pension Plan.
The Rural Municipality (RM) of Cornwallis provides community services and ensures appropriate administration of by-laws regarding the safety, health, protection and well-being of its approximately 4,500 residents and their property in the area immediately surrounding Brandon. Governed by the Reeve and four elected Council Members whose roles, duties and areas of jurisdiction are governed by The Municipal Act, and managed by the Chief Administrative Officer the organization has three full time administrative employees and an annual operating budget of approximately $3,100,000.

Qualifications

Ideally the successful candidate will have:
• Business Administration - Accounting of Finance Specialization
• Demonstrated accounting knowledge
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to details
• Strong people skills
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and ability to learn our accounting software
