Grain Farm Employee
Overview
JWR Farms is a grain farm located in Central Manitoba. Each year it plants and harvests crops including wheat, oats, soybeans, and corn. JWR Farms is looking for employees with an interest in grain farming and the practical application of agriculture knowledge and technology.
Responsibilities:
- Plant, fertilize, cultivate, spray, irrigate and harvest grain crops.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- General maintenance of farm infrastructure.
- Assist in land improvement.
- Record keeping and analysis of farm inputs/outputs.
- Other duties as required.
Start date and end date are flexible. Full-time/permanent positions and opportunities after graduation are available. Accommodation assistance available.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Interest in agriculture and grain farming.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to plan daily tasks.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work evenings weekends when required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office.
- Be able to lift 30 lbs repeatedly.
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
The following are assets but not required:
- Experience on a grain or other farm.
- Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment.
- Experience in residential or commercial construction.
- Class 1A driver’s license or equivalent.
