Job Title: Greenhouse Associate
Position Type: Full-Time or Part Time
Wage: (Dependent on Experience and Performance)
Reports to: Greenhouse Manager or Team Lead
Purpose: The Greenhouse Associate is passionate about horticulture and offers our customers an exceptional experience. You will welcome customers into the Greenhouse and Nursery, help identify their plant needs, present options, answer questions, and offer solutions. Through their plant buying process, you will act as the customer resource to provide positive customer interactions and ensure return business.

Responsibilities
• Deliver exceptional customer service and drive sales.
 Provide accurate product information to customers (i.e., plant information, tree & shrub information, etc.)
 Answer customers’ questions about specific plants, trees, and/or shrubs
 Inform customers about discounts and special offers
 Conduct price and feature comparisons to facilitate purchasing
 Work as a team with other Greenhouse Associates to provide excellent customer service (especially during peak times)
 Cross-sell products
• Maintain the greenhouse and nursery on a daily basis
• Maintaining the needs of the plants in the greenhouse and nursery (watering, cutting back, and transplanting)
• Monitor plants for insects, diseases, etc., and inform the Greenhouse Manager of any suspected concerns.
• Ensure shelves are fully stocked and all products are priced and labelled.
• Keep a clean and organized work area.
• Picking and preparing customer orders
• Stay up to date with new products/service
• Operate POS System to finalize customer transactions or product searches
• Provide customer feedback to the Greenhouse Manager or Team Lead
• Be a role model and active participant in ensuring a safe workplace, addressing safety concerns, compiling incident reporting, etc.
• Responding to phone calls and in-house radio calls
• Other duties as assigned
Qualification & Experience Requirements
• Completion of grade 12 or equivalent
• Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license
• Excellent computer and phone skills (POS Systems, Teams, etc.)
• Minimum 1 year in a similar Greenhouse Sales Role
• Strong knowledge of growing and plant care, plant materials, etc.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Physically capable of handling up to 30-50lb packages, trees, shrubs, etc.
• Horticulture or Agriculture background, education, or working towards; a considerable asset
• Ability to work in a hot environment (approx. 30-35 Degrees Celsius)

Physical Conditions:
The duties of the Greenhouse Associate are carried out primarily in a Greenhouse Environment.
• Uses hands, arms, and shoulders when using various types of equipment (daily)
• Prepared to lift heavy loads as required
• Ability to cross on uneven ground
• Ability to work outside, in hot and cold environments

Psychological/Stress Conditions:
The Greenhouse Associate position workload and environment do not generally increase employee emotional or stress levels.
