HEAD COOK
Camp Wasaga is a family camp, serving 3 full meals everyday and providing a snack in the evening for upwards of 100 people per day. Meals are cooked from scratch and can accommodate all ages, tastes and most dietary concerns. Balanced wholesome meals are prepared in a full camp kitchen and served buffet style at each meal.

The Head Cook is in charge of the daily kitchen operations; including assisting and directing, where necessary, the Cook and Assistant cook. The Head Cook is responsible for ensuring the campers, staff and volunteers are fed in a healthy, sanitary and timely manner. The Head Cook is considerate of the special dietary needs of some campers and adjusts the menus accordingly. The Head Cook’s duties included cooking and prepping, cleaning, proper dish washing, receiving and organizing orders and serving food, all while practicing proper food storage and handling. The Head Cook is in charge of menu planning, keeping inventory and ensuring proper stock of supplies. They also direct any volunteers in the kitchen and assist in running the camp counselors’ canteen.

Qualifications:

General kitchen knowledge, including knife skills, sanitation and food handling rules

Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check required

Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant

Valid Food Handler’s Certificate

Be able to manage food inventories and ordering

Must be experienced with commercial cooking equipmen
