Health Care Aide - New Graduate (HCA)

Our Health Care Aides work in Long-Term Care facilities across Winnipeg, and play an important role in each facility’s healthcare team, providing person-centred care.

Under the supervision of the Nurse/Unit Manager, you will assist with patient care and provide basic supportive care as assigned. You will ensure the proper delivery of services, including assisting with personal care, meal service and hygiene, and observing and reporting physical or mental changes and well-being.

A typical day might include:
Ensuring each resident receives care tailored to their needs, as determined by the Nurse/Unit Manager;
Fostering relationships with patients, families and coworkers;
Providing support and professional insights for both residents and their families;
Helping residents meet their daily care needs and longer-term goals;

What YOU bring:
Graduate of Health Care Aide program
Strong oral communication, as well as time-management skills
Practicum experience providing personal-care duties, including providing tasks such as lifting and transferring clients
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended
Current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry check
