Assiniboine Community College has been providing exceptional learning experiences that have been transforming lives and strengthening Manitoba through applied education and research for more than 60 years. Reporting to the Human Resources Administrator, the Human Resources Assistant provides essential support to the administration of the Human Resources office. The incumbent works closely with the entire HR Team and engages with all college community members to ensure the seamless and confidential execution of Human Resources operations.
Be Passionate and Take Initiative:
- Provide front-office coverage and customer service, efficiently directing information and inquiries, reviewing correspondence, and tracking staffing authorizations.
- Support a variety of HR activities, including document preparation, file management, recruitment, employee onboarding, and the coordination of staff events such as Onboarding, Staff Gatherings, and Retirement Celebrations.
- Use the colleges Human Resource Information Management System (Colleague) to input timely and accurate personnel and payroll information.
- Draft new hire correspondence, ensuring accuracy, and regularly updating forms as directed.
- Manage personnel records by creating new employee files, filing confidential and sensitive documents, and archiving of terminated files.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for the HR department, ensuring seamless procurement processes.
- Collaborate with the Staffing Advisor on recruitment activities, including scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and meticulously organizing applications for appropriate competitions.
Deliver Results:
- Combination of relevant education and experience (office administration or human resources).
- Strong organizational/prioritizing skills. Must exercise independent judgement in setting priorities.
- Good office management skills, with excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office 365)
- Experience working with a Human Resource Information Management System, desired.
- Excellent customer service skills, working with customers in person, on the phone and by e-mail.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for composing correspondence and proofing. Must be comfortable asking questions for feedback.
