Infinity Women Secretariat (IWS) is a non-profit organization that connects Red River Métis women, girls, 2SLGBTQ+ members throughout the Province of Manitoba and beyond, with a mandate to promote, empower, and enhance their well-being. Incorporated on April 23, 2013, IWS has become well known in our Red River Métis communities and remains a proud affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the National Government of the Red River Métis.
The IWS seeks to fill one full-time Junior Artificial Intelligence Developer position located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Director of IT and the IWS Senior Project Officer, the Junior Artificial Intelligence Developer is responsible for developing and tine-tuning large language models designed to improve the Michif learning experience for Red River Métis Citizen, including areas such as machine translation, speech recognition, sentiment analysis, and text generation.
Qualifications
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Assist in developing and implementing large language models;
• Assist in designing natural-language programming applications;
• Participate in the design and execution of experiments to improve model performance;
• Collect, clean, and preprocess data for training and evaluation;
• Research and implement the correct algorithms and tools for natural language processing task;
• Update and maintain the Michif LLM, working through steps to resolve any technical problems.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field;
• Relevant coursework or projects in Machine Learning or Natural Language Processing is an asset;
• Basic understanding of Machine Learning concepts and algorithms;
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python;
• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is an asset;
• Knowledge of NLP techniques and libraries is a definite asset;
• Ability to effectively design software architecture as requires;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
