Job Title: Landscape Crew Lead
Position Type: Full Time; Seasonal
Wage: Dependent on Experience and Performance
Reports to: Landscape Foreman
Purpose: The Landscape Crew Lead is responsible for assisting the Landscape Foreman in supervising and managing crew members, assigning work tasks, using tools and equipment, maintaining records and record keeping for projects, monitoring work quality, insuring crew safety and training employees while participating in all work on site. This position is an integral part of a successful crew within our Landscaping division.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Installing sod, dirt, and plants (Softscape)
• Installing patios, walls, decks (Hardscape)
• Cutting and measuring of job materials
• Operating small landscaping equipment and tools such as packers, saws, and other power tools
• Communicate with the Foreman effectively for accurate completion of work
• Notify the Foreman of any tools, equipment, and machinery in need of maintenance
• Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times
• Assist the Foreman with training, record keeping, and assigning work tasks to crew members
• Assist the Foreman with instructing proper work methods, monitoring the quality of work, adhering to work schedules, following safe work practices, and providing feedback
• Follow the training and promote the workplace best practices of installation, safety, and company standards
• Other duties as required

Qualification Requirements:
• Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record; Class 3F w/ Air an asset
• Experience hauling a trailer
• Visual Acuity to accurately cut and measure materials, operate equipment, perform tasks and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness
• Ability to meet physical demands of the position; lift 80 pounds, perform manual labor
• Able to physically perform basic life operational functions including but not limited to climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motion.
• Ability to follow company Safety Procedures and recognize Job Hazards
• Motivated individual who is detail-orientated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Must be available for seasonal long hours (Saturdays may be included); Punctual and dependable
• Ability to work outdoors in all elements
• Basic understanding of leadership skills including communication and motivation
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English

Education/experience:
• 2 years of relevant experience with knowledge in Landscape & Construction
• Experience operating power tools
• Experience working with a landscaping crew; an asset
• Basic knowledge of horticultural practices; an asset
• Supervisory experience; an asset

Work Conditions:

Physical Conditions:
The duties of the Landscape Crew Lead are carried out in a variety of indoor/outdoor settings.
• Uses hands, arms, and shoulders when using various types of equipment (daily).
• Sits at a desk, using a keyboard and office equipment (daily).
• Lifts and/or move up to 50 lbs. (occasionally).
• Ability to cross on uneven ground during construction site visits (occasionally).
• Ability to work outside when doing site visits, in various weather conditions (occasionally)

The workload and environment do not generally increase the employee’s emotional or stress levels.
• Interruptions and requests from multiple areas (daily).

The Landscape Crew Lead works independently and in a team environment.
