BMT is seeking a materials testing technician on a full-time basis in Brandon, MB. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a team member or individually, perform standard materials testing duties. The following responsibilities explain the primary job description relevant to our Materials Testing Technician.
Materials Testing Activities
• Prepare and participate in training of summer students.
• Complete both lab and field testing – concrete, aggregates, and densities
• Generating and issuing lab test results for lab manager’s review.
• Preparation of technical proposals and reports.
• Undertaking materials investigations and studies.
• Ensure lab is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Other duties as assigned.

General Duties
• Completion of internal forms and documents.
• Assist periodically with special projects as required.
• Responsible for job specific quality system tasks as defined in quality manual.
• Assistance with survey and field inspection crews.
• Remain updated on current professional practices and maintain a high awareness of new products and procedures in the industry by monitoring trade publications and actively participating in professional associations.
• Comply with all BMT company and safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a one-year Certificate from a technical college and 3 years experience materials testing experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Obtain the following Technician Certifications from Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories CCiL applicable to and required by BMCE material laboratory certifications and operations:
1. Concrete Technician Certification for Field and Laboratory – ACI or CCiL
2. Type C Aggregate Technician Certification - CCiL
3. Radiation Safety & TDG - Portable Gauge Users – Stuart Hunt
4. Valid Class 5 drivers’ license
5. Other certifications, licenses, and registration as required by lab and field services
